Sometimes we feel down and we just don't know the reason why. Or we do know why but we don't know how to fix it. Sometimes we are no longer getting along with the person we love. And sometimes we could just use some extra support.

At Free Indeed Counseling, I am a counselor passionate about helping you and your loved ones overcome challenges, hang-ups, and mental and emotional issues that are preventing you from living freely.

Dealing with Difficult Emotions 101
Counseling Group
Note: Covid has caused changes and this group is currently on hold; feel free to contact Crystal to ask if this group will happen again.

Dealing with Difficult Emotions 101 - DBT Skills Group

This is a dialectical behavior therapy-based skills group that will focus on recognizing, dealing with, accepting, and changing our emotions specifically through the use of the first two DBT skills: mindfulness and distress tolerance.  If you are experiencing intense emotions and it is impacting you negatively (i.e., it is hurting your relationships; you feel out of control or overwhelmed too often; you deal with obsessive, compulsive, or self-destructive behavior; you have difficulty organizing your life; you struggle with transitions, etc.), then this group is for you.  Come to this group with whatever emotions you are feeling and learn how to better cope with them so that you can better show love and understanding to both yourself and to others.  Whether you know the reasons for your difficult emotions or not, come learn how to increase your self-awareness and your understanding of what is going on on the inside, and how to cope with it.  This group will be part psychoeducational and part discussion/processing.

Ideal participants include those who are experiencing intense and difficult emotions, such as anger, sadness, grief, anxiety, depression, etc. Interested participants should contact me for an initial phone screening to ensure that this group is appropriate for them, and then I will provide them enrollment information for the group.

Special covid-19 info: Please note that my office is one room, so there will potentially be 7 of us (6 clients + 1 counselor) all meeting together in a space that will not allow for 6 feet of social distancing between each person. As such, covid-19 vaccinations are required. Masks are not required, though you are welcome to use them if you prefer.
